Summer Employment and Volunteer Opportunities

Fayetteville Recreation Department accepts applications for Summer employment from Februrary 1 - June 1 each year.

Generally positions are filled by May 1st. Due to high enrollment additional staff may be needed after that date.

All Employees must be 16 years old before the first date of camp.

C.I.T.s must be 15 years old.

Positions:

Specialty Camp Counselors:

      • Special Event/ Arts & Crafts Counselor

          • This position is responsible for planning and leading the camper groups in arts and craft activities.

          • This position is responsible for planning, leading and supervising the camper groups during special event activities.

          • Must be at least 18 years of age and have experience in leading and/or Talent in Arts

      • Gym Activities Counselor

          • This position is stationed in the Gym. They are responsible for planning & leading the camper groups in Gym activities.

          • Must be at least 18 years of age and have experience in leading in a camp and/or sports program.

Group Counselor:

        • is responsible for leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children in a group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. They will provide high quality recreational experiences for camper.

ON- Call Group Counselor:

        • is responsible for leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children in a group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. They will provide high quality recreational experiences for camper.

Counselors-In-Training (CIT) Program

Information

This program is designed to help participants develop leadership skills that will be useful throughout their lives. Identifying and achieving goals, improving communication, learning responsibility and helping others are main objectives for this program. We will work on developing confidence and real time decision making and problem solving skills.

CIT's will shadow actual counselors, help facilitate activities and participate in camp activities, as well as, service work and involvement in the improvement of camp.

Eligibility

C.I.T.s should have two years experience participating in a summer camp and be at least 15 years old by the start of the session they are volunteering for.

There will be 3 CIT positions per session.

If you are enthusiastic, love to work with children and excited to gain key leadership experience, you are a prime candidate for this program.

Selection Process

• All applications should be submitted by June 20, 2022.

If chosen, participants will pay a training fee of $10.00 per session and will need to provide immunization records. All participants will receive a certificate for volunteer hours earned.

Program Information:

Applicants should be available the entire duration of their session(s).

Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 12:15 pm

Session 1: July 5 - 15

Session 2: July 18 - July 29

Session 3: August 1 – August 12
